New Milestones!

Mackenzy turned 5 months old, was Christened, and hit new milestones last week! On Sunday 2/21/2010, she was blessed in front of the whole church an Beth and Curtis became her godparents. She was very cute in her dress and I promise to post pictures once I have a chance to steal my mom's camera card!

The week before her Christening she was all off schedule and waking up several times during the night... I think she was going through a growth spurt and this definately explains why she was so sleepy that Sunday morning! She couldn't even stay awake long enough for us to get out of the house!

Working in special education makes me very aware of the developmental milestones and I get extremely excited every time she hits one. Last week she began rolling over from front to back! She's not very consistent and still hates being on her tummy but she can roll over if she's in a good mood. The bad news is that when she rolled over Ray was sleeping and she wouldn't repeat the task for anyone else... so I'm the only one that has seen her roll over... of course no one believes me, but I've seen her do it several times now!

Earlier this week, she started grabbing our faces when we go to kiss her and she'll reach towards EVERYTHING and try to eat it. She's also trying to sit up independently and discovered her toes! Now everytime we change her diaper her feet go straight to her mouth! She even woke up at 4:00 AM this morning to play with them and have a whole conversation! Silly little girl.

She always finds the tv no matter where I put her! Here is her multi-tasking by playing with her toes and watching tv at the same time!

That's right Mackenzy... I brought out the camera! Notice the fat rolls she has now! She was such a skinny little thing and now she is getting chubby! I love it!

Happy Valentine's Day!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine's Day! Ray and I aren't too fond of the "holiday", but Mackenzy did make Ray a valentine with her footprints on it, with my help of course! She also got the chance to wear her red dress one more time before she outgrows it. I tried to take the picture when she was happy, but by the time I found my camera it was time for her nap! Oh well, here's Mackenzy in her Valentine's Day outfit looking confused and sleepy.

She loves her exersaucer and is getting really good at reaching for all of the objects around it. Ironically one of her favorite toys is the star... I wonder if she knows that's her middle name!

It's hard to believe that on Friday, she will officially be 5 months old. The time has gone by so fast and I'm enjoying every moment. She's turned out to be a very happy baby that loves to be the center of attention. She is reaching for everything around her and watches everyone that passes her by. She's almost rolling over from front to back by herself, but that darn arm gets in the way every time. She's almost rolling back to front as well and I actually thing she will do that roll first because she still hates tummy time! She's developed this happy squeal that cracks me up every time and rubs her eyes when she gets sleepy.
Next stop on her list is solid foods... We're going to try rice cereal in a few weeks and then move to veggies! Wish us luck!

I love being a mom!

It's February 1, 2010 and Guilford County Schools are closed today due to the winter storm we had over the weekend. It was an optional workday which means that I opted not to go in and chose to spend the day with my family instead! I love the weekends/long weekends because it allows me to spend extra time with the hubby and baby! I see Ray all the time in the mornings and he even speaks when he is half awake, but Mackenzy is often sleep when I leave and I hate disturbing her. Usually after she finishes her morning slumber she's a very awake and alert baby for a few hours! I miss those times when I'm at work...

People always say that it gets easier leaving your child in the care of others, but after 4.5 months it's not really getting easier. I just try to keep myself busy and my mind preoccupied so I don't have to think about it. I love spending time with my baby. I love watching her grow and change. I love watching my husband interact with her (she's definitely a daddy's girl). I just love being a mom!

Ok that's enough sentimental stuff! Below is a picture of Mackenzy after her bath. Her hair is getting longer, but it doesn't really have a shape yet... I just comb it straight up to get the knots out and let it air dry and eventually it gets curly again. However, until the curls come, Mackenzy looks like Don King!
