27 weeks!

Hi everyone! Below is my latest picture at 27 weeks which is roughly the beginning of my 7th month and the last week of my 2nd trimester! Time is really going by fast right now and we are slowly preparing for her arrival. I can't believe she'll be here in about 13 weeks! I feel like she grows a little bit every day and is moving around constantly. She has developed some sleeping patterns and loves to kick me around 5:30 in the morning! Last night Ray was listening to my belly and she kicked him in the ear! We think she's going to be a Carolina soccer player!

In the background you can see some of the decorations on the wall of her soon-to be-nursery, but I am standing the place where the crib will go... Her room is a work in progress!

After much research on the various sleeping arrangements for newborns, I decided against using a bassinet or a cradle and purchased a Mini Co-Sleeper Bassinet. Regular bassinets only last for 15 lbs and the co-sleeper lasts for up to 25 lbs, was sturdier, and it connects to the side of our bed. I've already set it up in our room so I can get used to having something next to me and so I don't run in to it in the middle of the night!

We decided to change her room theme to Winnie the Pooh! I love the new choice, and there are Winnie the Pooh items all over the place. Ray put up the border last weekend and I put up the wall decals! I hope she likes it!

I decided to place her name on wall across from her crib and painted letters. Eventually they will hang on the wall, but I haven't done that yet.

25 weeks and finally on summer break!!!

25 weeks and 4 days!
Today I went for my monthly check up and I had to drink this very sweet drink for a glucose screening. The drink is supposed to show how my body digests sugar and if my body doesn't digest the sugar correctly in 1 hour then I could possibly have gestational diabetes- my test came back normal (Yay!). Also, my midwife measured the size of my uterus with a tape measure which was kind of cool and I am measuring at 26 weeks which is 3 days ahead of my EDD (estimated date of delivery) so that was surprising! Also, I got to listen to Mackenzy's heartbeat through the doppler device and she kept kicking the doppler off of my belly! After several attempts, we were able to get her to stay still and hear her heartbeat which is normal (Yay!).
Overall I am doing beautifully and her growth is progressing as it should. I have to start going to the doctor every 2 weeks now since I am nearing my 3rd trimester. Everything is going so fast, but it's all very exciting! Luckily I'm finally out on summer break and I can rest and relax for the next 2 months or so!

You just said what?

I've been inspired by a former classmate of mine to post this interesting blog! It seems I am not the only pregnant woman who has experienced what she has termed "word vomit"...

I would define "word vomit" as the comments pregnant women receive daily as soon as others know that they are pregnant. I believe the first comment I had was when I was around 13 weeks and I started to develop my pudge and someone said, "I can't believe you are showing already. It's going to be a big baby!" Then around 18 weeks after spring break, someone said "Whoa, what have you been eating? You're getting huge!" After a while you learn to smile through the stares, random belly rubs from strangers, and the constant reminder that "Oh, you belly's getting bigger", but sometimes you have to wonder what are people thinking!

Babies grow and since she is in my belly, that means that I am going to grow too and my growth may expand to other areas besides my belly. It's probably not in the best interest of a non-pregnant person to point out every part of a pregnant woman's body that is changing and make comments such as, "You know your butt is getting big" or "Your arm is getting flabby."

Remember, pregnancy is a blessing and a miracle, but we are still hormonal woman! So beware the next time you want to say, "Looks like a 10 pounder" or my all time favorite "When are you due? You're going to be a giant by then aren't you?"

Friends, don't be a victim of "word vomit".

24 weeks (6th month)!

I can't believe I'm already 24 weeks pregnant, which translates to about the beginning of the 6th month! Time is going by so fast! Baby Mackenzy is moving around all over the place and when I lay down I can see my stomach move! Being 24 weeks pregnant also means that this school year is also coming to an end. Thank goodness! I love my job, but I'm tired, hot (we have no air conditioning), and ready for my summer break!

This weekend we went to Brian and Kim's wedding, friends from my church fellowship group, and I got to wear my black and white dress! I love this dress and it's another consignment sale find at only $10! I have become a HUGE fan of consignment shops and I think I've been to every store in Greensboro!

As you can see behind me in the picture, I'm standing in an empty room. This room used to be our office, but about 2 weeks ago we moved the desk in to the guest room to make room for baby! I've started to decorate the letters that will hang on the wall, but unfortunately the store didn't have all the letters I needed so her name rests on the floor... Hopefully this summer we'll get the nursery set up, but we're not in to much of a hurry because she'll be in our room for the first few months anyway.
