This week our house was full of lots of visitors for Mackenzy. We had a chance to see people we haven't seen in years. It's amazing how a baby makes people flock to your house! Our parents have been over more now since we had the baby which has been nice. We'll have to teach Mackenzy to secretly ask Mamarita and Nana for items that she needs because she already has them wrapped around her little finger!
Today I decided to venture out to church. I was a little nervous because I'm kind of limited on the clothes that fit right now and I didn't want to have a big ordeal if she got hungry during church. I brought a bottle just in case she woke up and I couldn't get out of the sanctuary fast enough, but the little booger slept through the whole thing! I guess that's good because she won't take a bottle from me so I would have had to have someone else give her the bottle if she got hungry. She was starving when she got home and ate 2 times in 1 hour and then had an explosion poop on my before settling in to her bouncy chair!
I'm finally feeling like myself, only slightly larger. I go to the doctor on Friday and if everything looks good I'll be able to work out again! Although I'm definitely smaller than I've been since January, I'm still bigger than I'd like to be so I'll be hitting the gym hard over the next few months to get back in shape.

1 month old Chunky Monkey!
Mackenzy turned 1 month old yesterday! Time has flown by this month and we're getting used to toting another human being around with us everywhere! She went to the pediatrician for her 1 month well baby visit and weighed in at a whopping 8.8 lbs which means she has gained a little over 2.5 lbs since birth! I must be feeding her some super breast milk! She is still 20.5 inches long which explains why all of her pants are really long. Maybe she'll be a shorty like me even though she has big hands and feet like daddy!
Her doctor said she is doing beautifully and her colic and reflux have calmed down tremendously. She is even beginning to sleep for 4 hour stretches at night which is wonderful, but I wake her up around the 4 hour mark so I can feed her and not explode! Around 6 weeks she'll need to begin taking a vitamin D supplement since breast milk lacks vitamin D and at her 2 month appointment I have to give her infant Tylenol because she has her 1st round of shots... poor thing.
Events this week: She pooped on me, herself, the bed, and her clothes. She had projectile pee like a boy and got the comforter all wet! She had projectile spit up and got it all in her hair! She peed on herself in Sears and we had to do a wardrobe change in the bathroom. She and Nicholas are getting along nicely and we all cuddled on the bed! She had her 1st trip to McIver and got to see some of her new Aunties and Uncles!
And the best news of all- I can now fit in to 2 pairs of my pre-pregnancy jeans which feels wonderful! I still have a ways to go before I'm back to my slender self, but I'm doing pretty good for someone that's not allowed to exercise yet (which I thoroughly miss). I feel wonderful and I'm loving motherhood!

She's a natural!
It's hard to believe that Mackenzy will be 1 month old on Monday! She is growing and changing so fast and last week my wonderful coworker, Brandi, wanted to stop by and take pictures of Mackenzy in her newborn glow. Mackenzy must really love the camera because Brandi was able to capture some beautiful shots of our little girl who actually stayed awake the whole time! Here are just a few of my favorite shots taken that day! I wish I could post them all!

3 weeks old and 1st bottle!
This week has been very eventful... Mackenzy is now 3 weeks old and has apparently developed a little bit of colic and acid reflux. On Tuesday night, Mackenzy was wide a wake and screaming from about 11:30 pm - 4:30 am. We couldn't calm her down long enough to get some sleep, she kept spitting up, and she just seemed very uncomfortable. She finally went to sleep around 4:30 and my worried mom instinct was on the phone with the pediatrician and lactation consultant 1st thing in the morning. We learned that although she does have reflux and colic, she weighs a whopping 7lb 11.5 oz (already gained a pound) that her symptoms are manageable.
We raised up a portion of her co-sleeper so she sleeps on an incline, we bought some Mylocon for gas relief, the lactation consultant showed me an alternative position to nurse her in, and when all else fails she sleeps in the moby wrap for a few hours so we can get some sleep. So far things are working and last night she was fussy from 10:30-1:30 but fell asleep from 1:45-6:00am then from 6-9am after her feedings... Thanks to my wonderful husband, I was able to sleep during those fussy hours because I was exhausted and he tended to her. So every night if you're wondering what we're doing around 1 am, we probably up with her.
On a lighter note, here is Mackenzy in her Winnie the Pooh robe and slippers after bath time! She hates bath time, but she loved this robe. This picture was taken after she pooped in the tub... Yep! That's my girl!
This is Mackenzy's favorite position to sleep in on one of us. I think it relieves her acid reflux and gas pains... Ray and Mackenzy watch sports all the time in this position and they are both content for hours! I don't have a close up of it, but take notice the new tattoo on Ray's arm. It is a cross with angel wings. In the center it says "Mackenzy" and on the bottom it says "Daddy's Girl". He's such a proud Daddy! I just hope he keeps the other arm free for when we have the next kid!

2 weeks big!
Mackenzy is now 2 weeks old and she is changing so much! On Monday the Smart Start nurse came by to check on her and she weighed 7lb 2 oz which was wonderful because it usually takes babies 2 weeks to get back to their birth weight! I must be feeding her some wonderful milk because she was over her birth weight in under 2 weeks!
She thinks she is a grown little lady. She loves to sit up and watch everything and hates laying down when she's not sleepy. Lately she's been staying awake longer during the day, lifting her head up if we hold her on our shoulders, and she will kick her legs out if she is in the fetal position! She's growing up to fast!
Mom and Dad are doing great and we love hanging out with her. Our newest place to hang out is Target since the car seat fits down in to the shopping cart! We also ventured out to the mall on Friday after our Babies R Us visit and I was able to buy a nursing shirt. Unfortunately, our trip ended quickly when she decided to leave us a lovely surprise in her diaper and spit up on Daddy! She did good for an hour in the mall and it felt wonderful to be around people again!

She's 1 week old!
Today Mackenzy is 1 week old! This week has been a roller coaster ride, but we're getting through it beautifully. She is an amazing baby and although she has her days and nights a little mixed up, she's very easy to read and easy to soothe.
I've been feeling pretty good. I'm still a little sore at times and I can tell my body is using muscles I haven't used in months, but I can tell I get a little stronger each day. I have had one of our mothers with me just about every day when Ray leaves for work and they have been amazing. My mom has been doing the cooking and his mom has been tending to her while I take a nap/shower/have a baby free moment. I'm so thankful for a wonderful support system and this week would not have gone as smoothly without them.
After much research on baby carriers, I decided to purchase a Moby Wrap (http://www.mobywrap.com/) and she absolutely loves it! I put her in there at least once a day and it enables me to get some stuff done since I have 2 hands! Unfortunately I wasn't able to convince Ray to wear the Moby Wrap, but he likes the Infantino baby carrier better so that works. Little bit is so small so we decided to wait a little bit before we use that carrier on her, but we had to give it a try!
Here she is again sleeping in the co-sleeper. It's been amazing to have her right next to me on the side of the bed. If she wakes up crying or I have to wake her up to feed her, she's just an arms reach away. I highly recommend this bed!
And of course... what kind of parents would be be if we didn't document the 1st bath at home. Ray gave her the bath because he was in the nursery when they gave her one in the hospital and knew what to do. She definitely does not like being washed, but she loves having her hair washed. It took 2 of us to wash her and we got water all over the floor, but at least she's clean!
