6 months old!

Wow does time fly! Mackenzy is already 6 months old and has become a little bundle of personality! She now has a fake cough that she does to get your attention; she can roll over from front to back and can roll to back to front if she really wants to; she is beginning to sit up on her own; she likes bouncing and jumping; she loves to eat her veggies but is not fond of fruits; and she loves to give hugs and kisses!

As you can see, she has also gotten at least 2 inches taller since we first introduced the exersaucer because she no longer has to stand up on the phone books!

I love this picture! She was sleepy and gave me the "please get the camera out of my face look" on the morning of the Human Race!

I can't remember if I already posted this picture, but here is her eating the star on her exersaucer...

My new thing is to since Micheal Jackson's "Black or White" and either she loves the song or she is laughing at my singing and dancing... either way she loves it and I get lots of laughs and giggles when I sing it! She's such a cutie!

Sarah's Baby Shower

One of my former teammates is expecting a little boy named Riley during the middle of April and of course I had to be involved in her baby shower! Over the past year my life has become consumed with pregnancy, babies, and baby showers! I loved being pregnant, at least until week 38, and I love helping my friends celebrate and welcome their new babies in to the world. Being a mom is such a blessing and I want my friends to enjoy their last few weeks of pregnancy and have the bare necessities they need to help care for baby! Below are just a few pre-shower pictures. Unfortunately, I forgot about my camera when the people arrived, but at least I was able to get a picture of the mom to be!

More Pictures

Mackenzy and I on her Christening minus the cute hat that came with the dress!

Mother and daughter

Mackenzy trying to grab the camera out of my hand as I tried to snap the picture.

After church in her cute dress jumping around! She loves to stand up and jump these days and I have been told that I used to do the same thing when I was a baby... Do we have a future gymnast trying to come out???

Solid food!

My mom bought Mackenzy this cute high chair that matches her bouncy seat! We tried it out a few times before we gave her her 1st taste of solid food! She looks so cute in it and I can tell she likes being up higher where she can watch our every move!

She likes to chew on the shoulder straps and kicks the tray, but all is good!

So far we have tried rice cereal (which she is not to fond of) and sweet potatoes which she loved! She likes to try and grab the spoon, gets food on her hand, and then rubs it on her face! Here is what she looked like after eating sweet potatoes and rice cereal... Yum!

Next week I'm going to begin making and freezing her food because I find it disgusting that baby food has a shelf life of 2 years... All of her food won't be homemade but hopefully the majority of it will be!

She also has a sippy cup that we let er experiment with. She's mainly chewing on it and can't quite figure out the sucking motion, but I think she's slowly figuring out how to get some of the water out. Yes I said water! We've gotta start her off right- veggies and water.

Finally, she got her 1st cold this week. She's very snotty and whiny and has a little cough, but the doctor says she should be fine in a few more days. She weighed 14 lbs with clothes on and yelled at the doctor when he pulled goo out of her ears. Hopefully she will get better soon...

New Milestones!

Mackenzy turned 5 months old, was Christened, and hit new milestones last week! On Sunday 2/21/2010, she was blessed in front of the whole church an Beth and Curtis became her godparents. She was very cute in her dress and I promise to post pictures once I have a chance to steal my mom's camera card!

The week before her Christening she was all off schedule and waking up several times during the night... I think she was going through a growth spurt and this definately explains why she was so sleepy that Sunday morning! She couldn't even stay awake long enough for us to get out of the house!

Working in special education makes me very aware of the developmental milestones and I get extremely excited every time she hits one. Last week she began rolling over from front to back! She's not very consistent and still hates being on her tummy but she can roll over if she's in a good mood. The bad news is that when she rolled over Ray was sleeping and she wouldn't repeat the task for anyone else... so I'm the only one that has seen her roll over... of course no one believes me, but I've seen her do it several times now!

Earlier this week, she started grabbing our faces when we go to kiss her and she'll reach towards EVERYTHING and try to eat it. She's also trying to sit up independently and discovered her toes! Now everytime we change her diaper her feet go straight to her mouth! She even woke up at 4:00 AM this morning to play with them and have a whole conversation! Silly little girl.

She always finds the tv no matter where I put her! Here is her multi-tasking by playing with her toes and watching tv at the same time!

That's right Mackenzy... I brought out the camera! Notice the fat rolls she has now! She was such a skinny little thing and now she is getting chubby! I love it!

Happy Valentine's Day!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine's Day! Ray and I aren't too fond of the "holiday", but Mackenzy did make Ray a valentine with her footprints on it, with my help of course! She also got the chance to wear her red dress one more time before she outgrows it. I tried to take the picture when she was happy, but by the time I found my camera it was time for her nap! Oh well, here's Mackenzy in her Valentine's Day outfit looking confused and sleepy.

She loves her exersaucer and is getting really good at reaching for all of the objects around it. Ironically one of her favorite toys is the star... I wonder if she knows that's her middle name!

It's hard to believe that on Friday, she will officially be 5 months old. The time has gone by so fast and I'm enjoying every moment. She's turned out to be a very happy baby that loves to be the center of attention. She is reaching for everything around her and watches everyone that passes her by. She's almost rolling over from front to back by herself, but that darn arm gets in the way every time. She's almost rolling back to front as well and I actually thing she will do that roll first because she still hates tummy time! She's developed this happy squeal that cracks me up every time and rubs her eyes when she gets sleepy.
Next stop on her list is solid foods... We're going to try rice cereal in a few weeks and then move to veggies! Wish us luck!

I love being a mom!

It's February 1, 2010 and Guilford County Schools are closed today due to the winter storm we had over the weekend. It was an optional workday which means that I opted not to go in and chose to spend the day with my family instead! I love the weekends/long weekends because it allows me to spend extra time with the hubby and baby! I see Ray all the time in the mornings and he even speaks when he is half awake, but Mackenzy is often sleep when I leave and I hate disturbing her. Usually after she finishes her morning slumber she's a very awake and alert baby for a few hours! I miss those times when I'm at work...

People always say that it gets easier leaving your child in the care of others, but after 4.5 months it's not really getting easier. I just try to keep myself busy and my mind preoccupied so I don't have to think about it. I love spending time with my baby. I love watching her grow and change. I love watching my husband interact with her (she's definitely a daddy's girl). I just love being a mom!

Ok that's enough sentimental stuff! Below is a picture of Mackenzy after her bath. Her hair is getting longer, but it doesn't really have a shape yet... I just comb it straight up to get the knots out and let it air dry and eventually it gets curly again. However, until the curls come, Mackenzy looks like Don King!
