"Hey the TV is on! I love this show!"

"Hey mom! You have the camera again?"

"OK. OK. I'll strike a pose. Say cheese!"

"I'm coming to get you and the camera too!"

Mackenzy's Many Faces... and CRAWLING!!!

Remember in the previous post when I described Mackenzy's late Saturday night not wanting to go to sleep and screaming "mama"? Of course I took a picture of it! She looked so pitiful standing up there (which she did all by herself) and crying. Look at that face!

So as a result, she got to stay up about 45 minutes later than usual because she just did not have sleep on her agenda. While she played with her book, I lowered her crib again... The sleepiness finally set in around 9:15...

Apparently banging books on the floor is fun!

This week she has been making this strange crinkled up nose face! I don't know where she got it from but it's hilarious! She also got her first real bruise today because she bumped her head on a chair as she was trying to climb up on it. Her babysitter called me immediately after it happened and attempted to put ice on it, but she was fine and up to her climbing about 2 minutes later. She must get the climbing gene from me!

And for the most important news of the day... Mackenzy is officially crawling with her belly off the floor! It's the cutest thing! She's so little but she's getting really fast. I predict she will be walking around 10 months... What do you think? Watch out world!
In case you're wondering, Nicholas did run in to me in one of the videos! He got a little excited too!

Helping mommy with laundry!

Mackenzy thinks she is so grown now! I had to lower her crib another notch because the other night when I put her to bed she was standing up in her crib, crying something in baby language, and yelling "mama". I love that she can pull herself up now but it makes me nervous to have her standing so well when we can't see her. So her crib went down one more notch. She's very strong and I would hate to see her learn to climb out so quickly. I'll probably lower it again next weekend if she keeps getting taller!

This weekend she has climbing, partially crawling, and saying "mama" constantly! Folding laundry is always fun for her and now she can reach in the basket and take things out. Luckily I caught her before she started pulling out the neatly folded towels. She's such a little stinker!

Milestone alert: We bought her some yogurt melts by Gerber. They are pretty much a harder version of yogurt that babies can eat as a snack and practice self feeding. Since she loves yogurt and eats it pretty much every day because it has a high calorie count, I knew the yogurt melt would be a hit. She can pick them up with a pincer grasp and feed them to herself! Yay Mackenzy!

8 months old and on the move!

Mackenzy is 8 months old and getting the hang of her scoot/crawl! She's getting faster everyday and is slowly beginning to figure out how to move without her belly on the floor. She'll get into the crawling position and rock back and forth but can't figure out how to move forward yet and will drop to her belly and scoot along. It's very funny to watch!

She finally began teething for real this time. She's been drooling since about 3 months old and chewing on everything, but about 2 weeks ago I noticed her gums were really red and swollen... She currently cutting two bottom teeth at the same time and I really hope the come all the way through soon. She's been taking the pain like a champ, but at night her teeth seem to really bother her and a dose of infant Tylenol is the only way she can get any sleep. Poor thing :(

Mackenzy's other new skill is to pull up on everything including her crib! I put her in there for a second so I could grab some clothes for her and she immediately pulled up and smiled, sort of... This is the smile I've been getting lately because her teeth hurt and she sucks on her gums...

Since she can pull up really well now, I decided to lower her crib 1 notch just to make sure she can't escape. The good thing is that the crib is now low enough that she can't get out, but now she can see me easier when I check on her...

"I can see you mom!"

I've seen the crib teething covers in the stores and thought they were kind of silly. Not any more! Apparently the crib was just what she needed! Yum!

After Swim Class!

On Saturday mornings, Mackenzy and I have been going to a swim class at the YMCA! She loves the water, kicks her feet, and loves reaching out for the toys. Hopefully we will have pictures soon once my mom figures out how to email them to me!

After swim class she is usually hungry, sleepy, and dirty! So we have morning bath time before we both settle down for a nap! Mackenzy loves bath time especially because she gets to splash, play with her bath toys, and steal the cup that I use to rinse her off with... Why does she always give me the "I didn't do anything face?" :)

Check out my soapy mohawk!

And the sleepiness begins to set in...

One item we bought her when she was smaller was this cute floor mat. As you can see, she loves to pick it up and turn it over now... She's so strong!

And once again, the sleepy/ "I didn't do anything" face...

That's right. Mommy and Daddy caught you! She rolled over and pulled the whole thing down and was laughing! Guess it's time to sell that toy!

What's New?
  • She's definitely teething and I'm trying to get the last few toothless pictures because I can feel her bottom teeth about to poke through.
  • She's still tall and skinny at about 15.5 lbs and 27.5 inches long!
  • She can get in to the crawl position and rock, but when she tries to move she falls back down
  • She is trying to pull up on her crib

I'm to sexy for my shirt...

When I give Mackenzy a bath, I always let her have some vanity time in the mirror. She loves to look at herself and give herself kisses in the mirror. She's facinated with the other baby looking at her and tries to figure out how I am in the mirror with her and standing right beside her at the same time...

As you can see, she still has her lovely bald spot in the back of her head! She's been sleeping on her side/stomach for about a month now and it has gotten better, but she still doesn't have enough hair back there to cover up the bald spot. Oh well, I guess we'll be doing comeovers for a little longer! Just kidding!

Lately when I've been leaving for work, I've been leaving a very awake baby! Poor Ray. He used to get an extra hour or so of sleep before she woke up but not anymore. When I get her up at 6:30 for a much needed diaper change and breakfast, she's alert and ready to play! I think she crashes for her morning nap around 9:00 but until then she's a ball full of energy!

We still have her co-sleeper in our room for the mornings. She seens to wake up around 4:00 am ready for her morning nursing session and I'm to lazy to put her back in her crib since I have to wake up at 5:45... So she sleeps in there about an hour a day which is good because as you can see below, she's attempting to escape!
