I have 3 full time jobs. A teacher, a mother, and a wive. I strongly believe that they are the hardest jobs in the world and I chose to do them all at the same time!
Job #1: A teacher- I spend my weekdays teaching physical education to kids ages 5-22 with various disabilities and ability levels. I chase the elementary students around the gym in hopes that one day they will understand basic sports and fitness concepts and I educate the older students on the importance of lifetime leisure and fitness activities. In other words, I get paid to play all day with some pretty cool kids!
I love my job, my coworkers, and my students, but working in special education can be tiring sometimes! I talk to students all day that don't talk back, but have eyes and mannerisms that can tell the stories of their lives. I teach children the basic skills that many of of take for granted like how to ride a bike, kick/catch/throw/roll a ball, and even walk on uneven surfaces.
Best of all, I teach my students how to play and have fun.
Job #2: A Mother- I am a mother to a vibrant, busy, feisty, determined, strong willed, loving, silly, goofy, stubborn 13 month old. I LOVE spending time with her and watching her little body and mind grow and develop. After playing with other peoples kids all day, I come home to play with my toddler! We run and play, have tickle contests, go on hunts around the house for Daddy and doggie, watch a little tv, cuddle, and read. She amazes me every day with the milestones that she reaches and skills she is able to do.
She has changed my life for the better and has made me a stronger person. She is my joy.
Job #3: A Wife- I am a wife to a tall, HANDSOME, stubborn, easy going, LOVING, caring, supportive, HARD WORKING, man that encourages me to be a better person. He's taught me to trust, to communicate, and most importantly how to love. He listens to my worries, dries my eyes when I cry, and makes me laugh every day.
He is an AMAZING father to our daughter. She is his little baby girl and watching the two of them together often brings tears to my eyes. I thank God every day for giving me such a wonderful husband and for creating obstacles in my life that constantly remind me of how GOOD he is to me.
He is my beloved.
As a teacher I understand the need for education and the need to be an involved parent. As a mother I understand the love my mother has for me. It's a love only a mother can give to her child and a love only the two will share. As a wife I understand the value of compromise and commitment. Having these 3 jobs is exhausting, but I wouldn't have it any other way. God wouldn't give me any more than I can handle and for that I say THANK YOU.
